Bring your stories to life with Unreal Engine!
SCHEDULE: TBA
DELIVERY: Live Virtual
DURATION: 3hrs (1x3hrs)
COST: CAD $95+ HST
DESCRIPTION:
Explore the filmmaking workflow with Unreal Engine 5.3 in this comprehensive overview of the fundamental tools and techniques used to create short animated films or previsualize your live action projects using virtual 3D environments and digital characters. This three-hour workshop will cover the creative storytelling process from breaking down a script to bringing your stories to life on screen. Learn how filmmakers can leverage existing asset libraries to build high-quality photo realistic environments, and iterate real-time to visualize the look and feel with production design. Navigate the world of digital characters and get an insight on how to add animation from motion capture or existing libraries that best represents the actions in your story. Gain the knowledge on best practices for production with cinematic quality lighting, cameras, location scouting, visualization, blocking, optimization and rendering from Sequencer for assembly in an external application. This workshop demonstrates the powerful Unreal Engine tool kit for filmmaking creatives to independently and collaboratively tell their stories.
This workshop is a prerequisite to Storytelling with Unreal Engine, an extensive training program where students will have the opportunity to learn and be mentored while producing their individual short films in Unreal Engine. Schedule to be announced shortly.
INSTRUCTOR:
Erica Penk knew she wanted to pursue animation and voice acting but it was her technical skills that gave her the “foot-in-the-door”. She joined the Emergent Game Lab at Georgia Tech where she earned a master’s degree in Digital Media. Little did she know that motion capture and realtime technology would become so integral to the filmmaking industry.
She has been using Unreal Engine since 2015. She’s taught and mentored for the Unreal Fellowship program, been an on-set Unreal Operator for Eisley Creative, and interned with Warner Media. In 2021, she became an Unreal Authorized Instructor to equip the next generation to tell their own inspiring stories.
