DESCRIPTION:

Looking to quickly learn the latest features of Unreal Engine 5.8? Join our live Bootcamp, featuring three extensive workshops, to get the key updates first-hand. This bootcamp is perfect for everyone, from newbies to seasoned professionals, seeking to sharpen their skills. It will be led by the "Seantourage," Sean Spitzer and Sean Lake, both former Epic Games senior instructors and Gold Badged Unreal Authorized instructors. Learn, create and connect with fellow enthusiasts, all from the comfort of your home. The instructors will cover critical topics that are currently solving immediate production bottlenecks for teams in virtual production, real-time filmmaking, games and technical art.


WORKSHOP 1: Building Massive Worlds in UE 5.8

June 9, 3 PM PST / 6 PM EST

Key Topics: Mesh Terrain, PCG 2.0 Manual Edits on Procedural Content, Procedural Vegetation Editor and Nanite Workflows for Environment Artists.

As Time Permits: PCG Nodes, Complex Attributes and Embedded Subgraphs, Poly Group Controls and World Partition Updates.


WORKSHOP 2: Cinematic Lighting & Virtual Production

June 10, 3 PM PST / 6 PM EST

Key Topics: MegaLights, Lumen Medium Quality, Composure and Depth Compositing, and Fog Screen Space Scattering.

As Time Permits: nDisplay Auto Exposure, Live Link Hub updates, VCam Improvements and Substrate NPR Shading.


WORKSHOP 3: MetaHumans & Animation

June 11, 3 PM PST / 6 PM EST

Key Topics: MetaHuman Crowd Plugin, Mesh to MetaHuman - Simultaneous Head and Body, and Direct and Mesh Controls - Rigging without Control Shapes.

As Time Permits: Control Rig Physics, Facial Workflows, Blendshape Rigging, RigMapper Beta, Modular Control Rig, AutoBaking for Sequencer, Simple View, Animation Mixer, and Filters and Link System.


NOTE: This workshop will be delivered virtually via an online platform (Zoom). Details will be sent along with a meeting link prior to the start date.


INSTRUCTORS:

Sean Spitzer is a Senior 3D artist, Art Director, and Unreal Engine specialist with over two decades of experience across gaming, film, broadcast, AR/VR and virtual production. He has worked with industry leaders including Epic Games, Unity Technologies and The Famous Group, supporting major studios such as Blizzard, Riot Games, Pixar, Disney Animation, DreamWorks and Netflix. Sean’s expertise spans Unreal Engine pipelines, lighting, materials, virtual production, technical art, and team leadership, with a strong background in mentoring artists. He has developed training programs and created cutting-edge real-time experiences for games, film and live broadcast environments.


Sean Lake is a Strategic Technical Education Leader and the founder of LakeFX Studios, a technical solution hub for real-time 3D ecosystems. A veteran of the industry, Sean spent nearly eight years at Epic Games as a Lead Instructor, specializing in Unreal Engine technical instruction, advanced rigging/animation workflows, and Twinmotion implementation. His multidisciplinary background spans digital artistry, 3D environmental design, and physical prop fabrication. Having spent years training developers at Unreal Fest and enterprise levels, Sean focuses on delivering engine-agnostic, unlocked pipeline solutions that empower creators to scale their production capabilities.
